Some German politicians and journalists are calling Samaras, leader of the Greek opposition party New Democracy, irresponsible and egotistical. What is the truth?
The truth is that Samaras will not condone the austerity program designed by the Greek government because he and his party believe it is wrong. It will not better the situation but make it worse. At the same time, the opposition party votes yes on measures it agrees with. Since October of 2009, the new Government has brought 100 bills to be passed in the parliament and of those 49 where voted by the opposition.
Is this the behaviour of an irresponsible politician and party?
On the other hand, when New Democracy was the ruling party, mister Papandreou and PASOK voted for almost NONE. Also Papandreou came to power by lying to the people and doing the opposite things he promised to do before coming to power.
So who is responsible and who is not?
As for those German politicians and journalists, they can go back to the caves they crawled out of. As we say in Greece, "when we had cholesterol you where still eating bananas out of trees".
